Are video games good or bad for you? It can be
both. Video games are looked down upon by parents as time-wasters. Some
education experts think that these games corrupt the brain. Violent video
games are readily blamed by the media and some experts as the reason why some
youth become violent or commit extreme anti-social behavior. Video games may
actually teach kids high-level thinking skills and give their brain a real workout. In many video games, the skills
required to win involve abstract and high level thinking.
Video games introduce you to computer
technology and the online world. You should recognize that we are now
living in a high-tech world. Video games make you adapt and be
comfortable with the concepts of computing.
In shooting games, the character may
be running and shooting at the same time. The player must then coordinate the
brain's interpretation and reaction with the movement in their hands and
fingertips. This process requires a great deal of eye-hand coordination to be
successful. Also, a reason why fighter pilots of today are more skillful
is that this generation’s pilots are being weaned on video games.
Beyond,
video games make children have quick thinking , making fast analysis and
decisions. According to researchers at the university, games simulating stressful events such as those found in battle or
action games could be a training tool for real-world situations. Playing action
video games primes the brain to make quick decisions. Video games can also be
used to train soldiers and surgeons. Besides that it will also help to developing
reading and math skills. The players have to read the instructions and get
information from the texts. Also, using math skills is important to win in many
games that involve quantitative analysis like managing resources.
In addition, video games make
learning fun. Children like games because of the colors, the animation, as well
as the challenge and the rewards of winning. The best way to learn is
when the learner is having fun at the same time. That’s why video games
are natural teachers. Having fun gives you motivation to keep on
practicing. Games that involve multiple players encourage children to work
cooperatively to achieve their goals. They learns to listen to the ideas of
others, besides that video games allow you and your family members to play
together and obtain a good bonding within one and others.
Video games will help to increase
your self-confidence as you masters games. As a beginner, you begins at the
easy level and by constant practicing and slowly building skills, becomes
confident in handling more difficult challenges. This positive attitude can
transfer to real life.
In a nutshell, I agree that playing
video games is good. It may bring us a lot of advantages rather than disadvantage.
