The Cons Of Video Games
In the last several years, Video games are an undeniably popular pastime. With millions and millions of consoles, games, and other related media being sold every year, they have become a tremendous force to be reckoned with. With widespread enjoyment comes widespread questioning. Some queries are as basic as wondering when the next pokemon title will release, while others raise deep ethical quandaries concerning the effects of electronic entertainment overuse. While many of these issues are difficult to fairly gauge and quantify, certain benefits and consequences of playing video games are definitely noteworthy. However, several articles have recently reported that video games may have negative effects on children's aggression and desensitization to violence.
First and foremost , most of the cons about video games are hurtful for your health. Video games can cause seizures, sometimes failing of vision, or less thought processing. Most video games can cause people to become obesity from not exercising often. The only reason you would become obese because some people eat junk food and drink soda while playing video games. When you do eat unhealthy and play video games non stop can cause you to become more obese from not exercising enough. I think video games can mainly hurt your health.
Even though lots of people have a good imagination in their heads. Video games can cause you to make you thought process go low and could cause your imagination to decrease. Imagination is a good thing to have, because most video game designers use their imagination for the video game. Imagination is more found in children than adults because children have more thought in their imagination from television shows and sometimes video games. Some adults lose their imagination from work, their children, and maybe their bills for their car and house. I don’t think everyone loses their imagination because its what we think when we don’t think about work, school, bills, and other .
After that, Many believe that extended periods of play can desensitize a person to related real-life elements and cause a hazy disconnect between reality and virtual reality. This is especially a concern when considering issues such as violence. For example, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been very vocally opposed, citing its plot that centers around an illegal, immoral lifestyle, including players participating in acts of brutality. Although it is difficult to discern whether playing a violent game corresponds to carrying out violent acts, rather than someone with tendencies toward violence already present just being attracted to such media, what is perhaps even more difficult to argue is what benefit can possibly derive from simulated murder.
Besides that, time management also is the one of the cons of playing games. Time for spent playing video games could be more productively spent doing something else. Many would add that if children continue to play video games, rather than using that time for educational pursuits, their behavior will result in a deficiency in intellect that will negatively affect the rest of their life. For an example, the Harry Potter series of books was championed and applauded for reinvigorating a love for reading in children, seen as an educational and universally positive act. Video games have yet to gain such a positive entity; instead, they are often derailed as time-wasters and brain-rotters.
In conclusion, I draw from the accumulated research is that the question of whether video games are "bad" for children is oversimplified. Instead, we should recognize that video games can have powerful effects on children, and should therefore set limits on the amount and content of games their children play. In this way, we can realize the potential benefits while minimizing the potential harms.
