Nowadays, many youngsters, even though adults also addicted to video games. Glazer notes that “more than three-quarters of American youths have video game consoles at home, and on a typical day at least 40 percent play a video game”. In my opinion, I fully agree with the point that video games bring us disadvantages.
In my view, video games may affect some people completely addicted to video games and they
do not go to work or school, do not eat properly and do not exercise enough. A lack of exercise is a
great health risk to which video games often contribute, depending on the types
of games we are playing as well as the length we play each time. It will affect
a person’s health. Therefore, video games is bad for us.
Besides that, video games
may lead a person become desensitized to violence when they play a lot of violent video games. There have been
reports of criminals copying violent video game crimes such as those featured
in the controversial Grand Theft Auto series. It is harmful to our country because
it will increase the number of criminal cases in our country. For example, people
dare to snatch others’ money as same as presented in video games.
Moreover, the cost of gaming systems, equipment and the
games themselves add up to a hefty amount for dedicated gamers or collectors of
games. Some game systems will require repairs throughout their use, adding to
the original price of the console when we first purchased it. For those who interested
in online game play must purchased all online games to prevent thievery or
unlawful gamers using online gaming services for which they have not paid. This
eliminates a less expensive route, such as renting online games. This will
cause people waste money in video games. Therefore, video games brings us many disadvantages.
In conclusion, playing video games bring
many disadvantages to us. Parents should keep a close eye to their chidren so
that they would not addict to video games and teenagers must be able to arrange
their time so that it will turns into advantage for us.
