In
our 21st of century, the population people playing video games
increase more and more rapidly. But, playing video games lead a lot of
disadvantages. Playing video games too often and for too long can
harm you in more than one way. Many people argue that video games are ruining
the lives of many children in today’s world. This is because they have no
restrictions on what they play and how long they play it. Video games are
looked down upon by parents as time-wasters and think that these games corrupt
the child brain.
Violent
video games are readily blamed by the media and some experts as the reason why
some youth become violent or commit extreme anti-social behaviour. Most of the
bad effects of video games are blamed on the violence they contain. Children
who play more violent video games are more likely to have increased aggressive
thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In many games, kids are rewarded for being
more violent. The act of violence is done repeatedly. The child is in control
of the violence and experiences the violence in his own eyes.
Besides
that, too much video game playing will make our socially isolated. We do not
know anything happen in the world because too addicted playing with video
games. Addiction to video games increases our depression and anxiety levels.
Addicted kids also exhibit social phobias. Not surprisingly, kids addicted to
video games see their school performance suffer. Moreover, we may also spend
less time in other activities such as doing homework, reading, sports, and
interacting with the family and friends.
Furthermore,
playing video games teach us the wrong values. Violent behaviour, vengeance and
aggression are rewarded. Negotiating and other nonviolent solutions are often
not options. Women are often portrayed as weaker characters that are helpless
or sexually provocative. When playing video games online, we can pick up bad
language and behaviour from other people, and this may cause us vulnerable to
online dangers.
In
conclusion, playing video games ruin our life tremendously. We must not often
play video games so that we can live a happy lifestyle. Parents also need to
keep track of how much time their children spend playing video games and also
as to what type of games they play. Every aspect has its advantages and
disadvantages; so is the law of nature. What we can do is try to maintain a
balance and get the best of what it has to offer, be it nature or technology.
