CELL PHONE: IS IT A NECESSITY AT SCHOOL?

        Cell phones are a wonderful convenience and fun gadgets to have. It can bring a lot of advantages to human which can entertainment ourselves and communicate to each other whatever a person who lives in different places or country so that can update their information and situation. But for a student, is it a necessary bringing cell phone to school? It was a questions mark to everyone for a long time period. We have known that bringing cell phone to school will give many students a lot of pros and cons. Here’s was opinions of school principle, teacher and parent.

School Principle Opinions,

     As a school principle, I do not agree my school student brings cell phone to school. Cell phones and text messaging in schools can makes students can’t pay attention to teacher when teachers are teaching. These kind of attitude may cause a student cannot concentrated in education, and have also showed unexpected when teacher was teaching. Student will send test answers to friends—that is cheating and is certainly wrong! They usually bring cell phones to school for entertainment uses. They used cell phones to recording teachers-- no one is perfect and teachers are reputed to be above any misdeed. However, if a teacher is not conducting him/herself properly, report him or her to the principal and one’s parents. It is up to the administrator to complete an investigation. Students who misbehave should be afforded the same basic rights. And then, there are these very serious offenses that are not only wrong, but illegal and one should never use one’s cell phone for this these purposes such as arranging a drug deal, plotting a bomb threat, setting up others to fight. If students act in a mature manner and present a fair cell phone use agreement to their parents and teachers maybe this cell phone controversy can be settled for the benefit of all. No one wants to be recorded without knowledge or consent. Brings cell phones to school really can brings a lot of impact to a student.

Parent opinions,

     Students have to bring cell phones to school? For me, I am very agreeing my children bring cell phones to school. Cell phones can help many parent and student a lot. Students can take pictures of class projects to e-mail or show to parents. Ordinarily, parents do not see projects that are completed in groups in school. Students can text message missed assignments to classmates that are absent. A buddy system can be put into place. Many cell phones are equipped with calculators—plenty of new math curricula encourage the use of a calculator when problem-solving. A student should become accustomed to having a calculator handy for both homework and real life math applications. If a student is slow to copy notes from the board, pictures can be taken of the missed notes and accessed later. Students can also sending notes to classmates who was absent. Students can listen to music with ear buds if the cell phone is equipped with this option during independent study—many students find this relaxing and comfortable and are more productive as a result. Parents want their children to carry phones for a number of reasons. The first is safety -- if a Columbine-type of attack should ever take place, they would want to be able to contact their children.

Teacher Opinions,

     As a school teacher, I think that students should not have cell phones during school time, because students have cell phones bring many of the disadvantages. The first reasons, students cannot concentrate and paying attention when teacher teaching in class room. For example, students will play games, when teacher teaching in class room. Besides that, students will cheating the test, when during test, they will giving the answer to each other by text message. Students also are texting friends while in the class room, and new cell phones with cameras could be used to take photos of exams, take pictures of students changing clothes in gym locker areas, and so on. Further more, when ringing cell phones while in the class room, they will disturb classes students in class time cause they distractions. Last, bring cell phone to school can cause occur steals problems and bad behavior in the school, and affect the school's reputation.

     Conclusion, that cell phone use in schools has both advantages and disadvantages. The solution in this regard would be to train the students well regarding the usage of cell phones, by conducting special training and counseling sessions. Co-operation by both-teachers and students can only resolve this dispute permanently.
