Playing Computer Games Has No Harmful Effects On Young People

Nowadays, computer games have become a popular form of entertainment among young children ,teenagers and even adults. Most of them spend hours every day or every week playing games. In my view, playing the games is not harmful to these people. In fact, it brings some advantages. Of course, the advantages are only acquired if the young people do not spend to much time on playing the computer games. Playing computer games is an affordable and cheap form of entertainment as an activity. It is a good way to reduce stress too. It is also very good way for young people have own free time at home. All is needed is a personal computer and the proper software.

From playing the computer games, young people do gain some skills. While playing, the games engage the eyes, mind and other senses of the player. In this way,the playing improves hand-to-eye coordination, encourages critical thinking and assists problem-solving skills among the young people.

As the games proceed, the players must be able to control the outcome of the game. They must think and plan their strategy ahead most of the time. By doing all these, they learn to solve problems that arise from the games and coordinate their skills. these skills on problem solving and coordinating can be applied to everyday life situations.

Some parents have even said that playing video games has improved their children's reading skills. This might be true. There is a lot of reading to do in video games .In every video games, there are menus. The children must read the menus in order to proceed with the game. Before buying a game, young people either look up review online or in magazines to learn more about the latest games and how to improve their gaming skills. In this way they improve their reading.

Since playing computer games teaches young people useful skills which they can use in other situations, I think it does more good than harm. Of course, the advantages are only realised if discipline is exercised in playing them. One cannot be playing them the whole day night at the cost of one's studies and health.
